11 STYLISH OUTFIT IDEAS FOR THE SNOW

by - 2/21/2015

11 weather-proof outfits you can brave the snow in. When the chill well and truly sets in and the snow looms on the horizon, it's hard to know what to wear. If your goal is to look super-stylish and stay warm, you might need some inspiration. Here are 11 outfit ideas you can borrow from.

1. Margret’s outfit is multi-layer glorified, mixing one thick knit, a leather biker and two lightweight coats without looking bulky for an instant. Of course, her slender physique helps, but in putting together this kind of winter ensemble it pays to bear in mind how the fabrics will look when laid against each, perhaps even start with the bulkier one, and work your way atop.

2. It is possible for a few extra layers to make you feel uncomfortably bulky, even without it necessarily showing. In this case, make a best friend out of a cozy and warm fur coat, the bigger, the better. Extra points if it’s a fun and colourful piece that you can use to breath new life into your winter basics, and wear with pretty much everything:

3. No better time like the present, this super-cold one made out of snowy days, to bring your blanket coats out of the closet. Follow Chiara’s lead and use them to add an extra layer of warmth, and personality, to even the most basic of winter outfits. Trust them to look just as gorgeous on top of both your favourite jackets, and coats:

4. And of course, when everything else fails, you can always seek a great puffer to keep you warm on the cold days. To make the most of it, try to stay away from the standard jackets, and opt for cool bombers in bold colours instead, perhaps ones accented with subtle but fun details. They are bound to look best when paired to chunky knits and skinny jeans:

5. If ladylike would gain a winter translation, then its weather-proof interpretation would definitely be mixing a cozy knitted dress, an extra-warm wool coat, tights and knee-high, or over-the knee-boots. Try the combination in earthy neutrals and you will be rewarded with instant (winter) sophistication:

6. Wearing a teeny mini skirt in winter is made almost irresistible by Zanita who expertly layers on basic turtle-necks and jackets of different lengths in order to keep the upper body all snug and warm. Tights, boots and furry mittens complete her super-creative winter outfit:

7. If you aim for something a little bit sexier to brave the snow in, replace the ankle boots with a pair of over-the-knees ones, pick out a furry coat and layer it against a pretty top. For extra warmth, you can always build up on chunky scarves and knitted beanies:

8. On some freezing days, nothing stands to beat the components making for a classic winter outfit, not if you have the chunky knitted sweater, the heavyweight wool blend coat, the comfy pair of jeans and the boots working for you. Not just any boots, but those lined with luxurious shearling, able to ensure supreme comfort and warmth regardless of temperatures:

9. Even classic sophistication reads well in winter, so do try to make the most out of your perfectly tailored pieces in spite of the cold, cold days. Sharpen up the pants with a pair of  heeled boots, elevate your coat with a fur collar, and round off the look with a wool hat and a chic bag:

10. Flared jeans, high platforms, playful prints and the oversized sheepskin biker jacket that ties them all together. Aside from looking memorable and right on trend, Trine’s cozy outfit is a lesson in how to stay stylish in the snow:

11. Minimal yet incredibly effective, practical but decidedly gorgeous, Lisa’s take on winter dressing bears a timeless quality. With many elements nodding to the 1970s, her look invites you to play with texture and bet on simplicity, all while keeping things snug, warm and chic:
